Cost-Effective Structural Support Solution

Micropiles are small-diameter drilled and grouted piles. They offer a viable alternative to conventional piling techniques, particularly in the following conditions:

  • Restricted access
  • Low headroom
  • Challenging subsurface conditions
  • Environments sensitive to noise or vibration

Our foundation reinforcement experts in Montana utilize micropiles as a unique foundation element because of the ability to install them in very limited access conditions and through the wide range of subsurface conditions found in our Rocky Mountain region. Yellowstone Geotechnical Construction provides design-build services for micropiles in Montana.

Applications include:

  • New loads in congested areas
  • Underpinning/arresting structural settlement
  • Challenging subsurface conditions
  • Seismic retrofit
  • Slope stabilization
  • New construction

Micropile Procedure

  1. Begin drilling and installation of casing (if used).
  2. Complete drilling to target depth.
  3. Remove inner drill string.
  4. Place central reinforcement and install grout by tremie method and pull casing (if used).
  5. Terminate pile.
